Welcome!

Excellence in Learning Academy is Laurel’s only home-school hybrid, Christian academy, offering the advantages of homeschooling within a familiar school structure.

ELA is different by design.

We believe that a loving learning environment fosters a love of learning. We believe that children learn best through an individualized approach that allows them to master concepts at their own pace and in their own learning language. Finally, we believe in the power of the parent-teacher relationship and the impact of an engaged parent on a child’s educational success.

I am so thankful for the discovery of this school! It is an awesome feeling to know your child is in good hands and learning and loves going to school!

Why ELA may be the best choice for your child and your family.

Excellence in Learning Academy was built on the foundation of the child-centered, parent-teacher interactive-based education model, which takes the best aspects of traditional, full-time public and private schools, as well as home schools, and molds them into one hybrid model.

ELA combines professional, individualized instruction of a classroom teacher with the guidance of each student’s parents. Classes are taught from a Biblical perspective, and life applications are made. At ELA, parents and teachers work together to develop wholeness of body, mind, and spirit in young Christians.

“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.”

– William Butler Yeats

My son went from crying and tummy aches every morning heading to public Kindergarten to being excited about going to school when we made the change mid-semester! He feels safe and loved at ELA, and that is priceless.

Our Mission

Because we understand that each student is a unique creation who reflects the image of God, we will seek to understand their gifts, abilities, needs and problems. We will shepherd their hearts, develop learning, thinking, study, and communication skills, and train them in Godly character.

Our Individualized Approach

ELA will seek to provide a learning environment that recognizes the individuality and worth of each student, realizing that there can be variability in learning aptitude and mastery of grade-level skills and content for different subjects. We will strive to help each child realize his full potential through effective placement and creative teaching methods.

Enrolling at ELA was completely life-changing for my daughter. Finally, she has a loving environment that challenges her academically while allowing her to be truly herself. We tell everyone who will listen about this wonderful school!

Modeling the love of Christ in all that we do.

A Christian school means much more than simply adding a Bible class to the curriculum of the school. A truly Christian school is one where like-minded parents come together for the purpose of educating the children in an environment that teaches and stresses a consistent, personal adherence to the Gospel of Christ. From teacher selection to curriculum choices to dress code, our allegiance to Christ and His Lordship permeates everything!

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Proverbs 22:6
